We’ve got a telescopic cylinder job in the shop, or at least the major stages of one laid out where you can really see what makes these things work. When you look at them together like this, it’s a good reminder that “just a cylinder” can mean a whole lot of steel, chrome, seals, threads, fit, finish, and patience.
Telescopic work is a different animal. Everything has to be straight, clean, measured right, and put back together the way it was meant to be. One bad surface, one damaged thread, one seal cut on install, and you’re doing the job twice.
This is the kind of work I like seeing in the shop. Heavy parts, tight tolerances, and a rebuild that has to hold up when it goes back out in the field.
That shiny chrome looks nice, but the real test is when it’s back under pressure.
